The Nanjing Youth Olympic Conference Center has a construction area of about 400,000 square meters. The main body consists of a 6-story conference center with a height of 46.9 meters, a 68-story five-star hotel with a height of 314 meters, and a 58-story conference hotel with a height of 249.5 meters. The two high-rise towers are connected to the conference center through sky corridors at 15 meters and 21.12 meters. The Youth Olympic Conference Center was designed by Zaha Hadid. It has a strong sculptural feel and looks like a sailboat in outer space when viewed from a high altitude.
(1) Plate design
The exterior of the building is complex. During the in-depth design, it was found that there were many structural conflicts and joints. In order to fully reflect the flexibility and overall sense of the building, after in-depth design, it was determined that the GRC plate type would be divided into flat plate: 45,000 m2, plate size is 3m×2m, and the maximum plate is 6m X 3m; folded plate: 42,000 m2, plate size is (2+2)m×2m, and the maximum plate is (5+2)m X 3m; hyperbolic plate: 30,000 m2, plate size is 3m×2m, and the maximum plate is 6m X4m; single curved plate: 18,000 m2, plate size is 3m X 2m, and the maximum plate is 6m X 3m. The plate grid design must be on a unified oblique line from the roof to the interlayer, and it must also strictly correspond to the seams of the concave opening glass window plates. In order to ensure the durability and mechanical safety performance of the product, the board design also includes the product thickness design. The final product thickness determined by mechanical calculation is 15ram. Together with the product's back steel frame, the weight of the GRC board is controlled at an average of about 501 ram/m2, which fully meets the thin shell and high-strength GRC characteristics.
2) Surface protection
For the protection of the surface of the GRC board, it is not only necessary to form a good waterproof effect on the surface of the product, but also to maintain the product color and matte particle texture, and to have good self-cleaning performance. These properties must also meet certain durability requirements. The surface of the GRC board in the Youth Olympic Center project uses an internationally advanced inorganic hybrid silicone acrylic emulsion. During the curing process of this protective agent, the inorganic chemicals are triggered by the volatile agent to migrate to the surface of the protective agent. The protective coating surface will have a layer of inorganic material, which makes this protective agent both hydrophilic and resist photocatalytic photocorrosion.
The application of light GRC curtain wall panels in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Center project is the first large-scale application of GRC curtain wall panels in modern public buildings and venues, which is a pioneering move. It indicates that the concept innovation, technological development and engineering application of China's GRC industry have reached the international leading level. With the development trend of personalization and digitalization of modern architectural design, through the demonstration role of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Center, light GRC curtain wall panels will surely set off more architectural design storms. If the industry can improve its awareness of regulations and issue national product implementation standards and construction specifications as soon as possible, it is believed that GRC panels, a new functional, intelligent and environmentally friendly wall material, will play a more outstanding role in the future construction field.
